Weddings are as old as time itself, but that doesn’t mean that the ceremony itself has to be old-fashioned. As a matter of fact, we’ve been seeing increasingly innovative weddings lately, and 2020 promises to provide a lot more where that came from.
Whether it’s dresses, proposals, or even just the way the flowers are arranged, today’s weddings are thoroughly modern affairs. Read on to discover the three most important wedding trends to look out for in 2020.
1: Flower Arrangements
Without a doubt, one of the most important aspects of any wedding is the greenery. Brides and grooms often spend hours upon hours making sure the flowers are perfect, and with good reason; a beautiful flower arrangement is sure to live on in the minds of the wedding guests for a long time after the party’s over.
In 2020, the most significant change in the way flower arrangements are designed has to do with sustainability. Brides are making the environmental impact of their wedding a top priority. We can also expect to see more unorthodox options joining forces with the traditional roses, such as leafier plants and more exotic ferns.
2: Food For Thought
A wedding simply isn’t a wedding without an impressive spread of food laid out for the guests. In 2020 we’ll see more varied and inclusive menus becoming popular across the board. An easy example of how this might take place is with regards to vegan and vegetarian options. Even though the couple getting hitched might not have special dietary requirements, there are bound to be a few people in the guests’ list who do.
As well as making sure that everybody’s eating habits is catered to, the way the food itself is presented will probably continue to get less formal (a trend which has been growing over the last few years). Expect buffets and small tables of serve-yourself finger food to take precedence in 2020. This is largely due to weddings themselves continue to become more modern and less traditional.
3: Creative Furniture Choices
In 2019, we saw a lot of artisanal setups, with couches, armchairs, and other pieces of furniture trending away from the traditional formal aesthetic and becoming more relaxed, chic, and comfortable. This will no doubt play a central role in the way the weddings of 2020 are designed. However, this time with a crucial distinction: indoor furniture won’t be confined to the indoors for much longer.
Sofas in the garden, armchairs next to trees, loungers beside water features — you can expect to see it all in 2020, as wedding planners take advantage of their own creativity to bring the party outside into Mother Nature’s own loving arms. Of course, this will vary depending on the particular weather conditions. However, this change of fresh, modern way of imagining wedding furniture could be led by areas with largely consistent seasons and climates.
Weddings in 2020 will be thoroughly modern, unique affairs. Many brides and grooms are learning to take the reins and really let their own individuality shine through when it comes to designing their perfect ceremony. Which trend are you most excited about? Let us know in the comments below!
