Ever wondered how it feels like to get married under a beautiful Magnolia tree? Imagine being surrounded by its tree branches as if it is hugging you and your guests, giving its blessings for your big day!
The Couple – Alex & Ian
Alexandra and Ian met through mutual friends, but it was not exactly quite that as well! Alex was visiting her best friend who has been dating Ian’s best friend for the past eight months. Ian saw their photos together and thought he wanted to get to know Alex. However, he did not receive any word after he asked his best friend for help so he decided to add her on Facebook and they started chatting right away! Their first date, was 3 months after they started chatting online, in a bar called Rock Bottom in Dubai. They danced and spent time with each other until dawn and spent the next few days together!
Both of them were back living in Melbourne afterwards and Ian proposed around the timing of their three year anniversary, it was a simple and intimate proposal, totally unexpected but mesmerizing in its own way!
“He doesn’t take life too seriously, doesn’t sweat the small stuff, and takes his relationship with his family and friends run incredibly deep. He’s also a total softy, has a heart of pure gold and without effort makes our life together so much fun.”
Wedding Planning Process
The couple found the wedding planning process to be a breeze. This was achieved with the help of their accommodating wedding vendors that offered seamless service throughout the process. Alex also DIY-ed most of the event styling. Bunches of rosemary was cut from her mom’s rosemary bush and one friend offered her olive tree brunches for table settings. A tinge of Italian vibe was added to the table settings and signages used to create that Positano style – nothing too much as the venue was already perfect, to begin with!
“We loved that the venue required little to no styling as it already had beautiful architectural details and interior design; the best part – it was 10 minutes away from our ceremony venue!”
On the Big Day
This sweet wedding ceremony was held in the St Kilda Botanical Gardens, under a big Magnolia tree. The reception was at Greenfields Albert Park, which was only 10 minutes walking distance away from the ceremony venue. Their actual day was captured by Jess Nicholls, who is an expert at taking natural and fun shots of couples and their guests.
“Alex is the most considerate, thoughtful and full-of-heart person I’ve ever met. She is someone who cries at the drop of a hat, loves nothing more than buying presents for people and will drop to her hands and knees without hesitation to play with any type of dog she meets…who would want more?”
The Wedding Gown – Georgia Young Couture
Alex scheduled the appointment with Georgia Young Couture as the last bridal brand to explore. She knew in her instinct that she will be able to find the perfect gown from Georgia. Alex had dreamed of wearing a jumpsuit for her big day and she found the perfect pair at Georgia Young Couture – the one that fitted her so well that her mother cried when she tried this on. However, she also wanted to experience walking down the aisle with a train. After discussion with Georgia the designer, they managed to produce a three-piece gown that consisted of a bodysuit, a pair of pants and a tulle skirt overlay! What a magical experience for Alex the bride!
“The Georgia Young label was created for the bride that didn’t want to look like a ‘bride.’ There is a strong distinctive design difference with the gowns, that isn’t quite like anything else. With the use of strong lines, geometric shapes, clean fabrics and contemporary vibes, these gowns are the perfect piece for the modern bride.” – Georgia Young Couture
Advice to Future brides
It is important to enjoy the journey of your wedding and don’t sweat over the small things on your big day! If it helps, you may wish to do some exercise to loosen yourself and relieve any tension you have preparing for your big day ahead. We wish Alex & Ian have a blissful marriage ahead!
“Keep the fun alive, don’t get lazy and love as hard as you did on your wedding day, every day!”
