Forget horses & a carriage, the new in-trend is to bring alpacas to your wedding. Read about this festive & vibrant South-American themed wedding of Ara & Jorge at the unique venue – The Grounds of Alexandria, in Sydney.
The beautiful lovebirds Ara & Jorge got engaged on their first trip to Europe. Jorge had convinced Ara to go at night and surprisingly no one was around at the time, so it was very private. Jorge asked Ara to take a photo of him with the entire Eiffel Tower, so Ara had to walk quite a fair way to capture it all. When she came closer to take another photo, he got down on one knee and popped the question.
The couple wanted their wedding to be a celebration, rather than a formal setting. Jorge is from Peru, so naturally, there was a South American flavour into the mix. The wedding had a bright wedding arch, alpacas, handpicked textiles from Peru for napkins, cute pins and even snow! The colour palette was filled with bright and vibrant colours, while keeping an elegant and memorable theme.
Ara, a graphics designer, naturally took it upon herself to design the signages & place cards!
“Walking down the aisle, seeing all the decorations come to life, our loved ones, and Jorge waiting for me at the end. It was also a lot of fun running up and down the laneway for our send off with the sparklers.”
Here’s what photographer and founder of the popular Shotkit website Mark Condon had to say about the wedding:
“I’ve shot at this venue many times over the years, and make a point to try and capture something different each time. Usually, this means taking the couple to some hidden nook or cranny, or working with new angles, or different lighting… but this wedding was different – everywhere I looked there was something exciting and original to photograph! From the alpacas to the snowstorm, and all the colourful styling in between – this was one wedding that really stood out! Needless to say, I thoroughly enjoyed it :-)”
Tips For The Ones Yet To Wed
“Don’t sweat the small stuff. Of course, we want every little detail to be perfect, but at the end of the day, your guests are there for both of you and they’re going to love it all. They’re not going to remember the small details so if something hasn’t gone quite to plan, it’s ok! Also, try and have a theme and centre your wedding look and feel around that central theme – it can make choosing a lot easier.”
Congratulations, dear Ara & Gorge!
