Talk about a fairytale! Amalie and Daniel said “I do” in their home country of Denmark. Lots of natural greenery and their closest family and friends surrounded them. The bride also happened to be wearing a drop-dead gorgeous gown by one of WedElf’s Vendors We Love, Jenny Packham. More on the wedding dress and Amalie and Daniel’s special day below!
About the Couple
Danish couple Amalie and Daniel first met while they were working for the same company. However, it wasn’t until five years later, at which point they no longer worked together, that they ran into each other at a bar in Copenhagen and fell in love. After dating for some time, Daniel finally decided to pop the question. He did so in Amalie’s favourite city: London! While the pair were exploring London’s Covent Garden, Daniel got down on one knee and asked Amalie to be his forever.
“Remember each other. Everyday life can easily take over. Remember date nights, to kiss each other good morning and good night, never go to bed angry and appreciate each other.”
The Jenny Packham Gown
Choosing a wedding gown can be a long and tough process, which was definitely the case for Amalie. The bride always knew that she wanted her dress to have lots of detail. However, she tried on numerous dresses in Denmark and couldn’t find exactly what she was looking for. She eventually decided she was going to have the gown custom-made, and so she put a deposit down with a Danish fashion designer. But then, as if it were fate, five months before the wedding Amalie spotted her dream dress on Instagram.
The gown was by British fashion designer Jenny Packham. Only one bridal shop in Denmark carried the brand so Amalie rushed to the store in Copenhagen, tried it on, and it was perfect! Amalie looked gorgeous on her wedding day, wearing her dream gown by Jenny Packham. The dress featured a fitted silhouette and the most delicate, beaded top with cap sleeves and an illusion sweetheart neckline. To complete the look, Amalie carried a chic bridal bouquet containing white and pink peonies.
An Enchanted Forest
Amalie and Daniel’s intimate affair had just 55 guests in attendance. Although there was no specific theme for the day, Amalie had a vision of the reception space looking like a forest. In the end, she turned their venue (Restaurant Wohlert at Schæffergården in Gentofte, Denmark) into the most beautiful enchanted garden setting. Putting longer branches of greenery into tall glass vases created the forest aesthetic that the bride wanted. These oversized arrangements served as the centrepieces at the reception and really brought the outdoors in!
“I didn’t want traditional table flowers. I had a vision about a forest… so I had some tall vases with big branches in them. It worked out so well and was exactly what I had in mind.”
Advice to Brides
Amalie has a wealth of advice to offer both brides to be and married couples. First, she advises all brides to book gown appointments at two or three different stores and to try on plenty of styles. She says that you might be surprised at which silhouettes you end up liking. Also, be sure to take photos of everything you try on so it’s easier to remember the ones you liked later. Further, Amalie’s advice to couples is to cherish each other.
