We are thrilled to announce the launch of Ethereal by Watabe Wedding’s 2020 kimono cheongsam collection! We at WedElf have been obsessed with the Singaporean fashion house’s timeless bridal wear ever since they were established in 2016.
Ethereal by Watabe Wedding
Celebrating the beginning of a new decade, Ethereal’s 2020 collection blends authentic Japanese obi fabrics with modern oriental design. The collection made up of five exclusive styles, took inspiration from the peony flower. Not only is the peony one of the most beautiful flowers, but it is also an important symbol in both Chinese and Japanese culture, representing harmony, fortune, and happiness.
For instance, the floral peony motif can be found on each of the five kimono cheongsams. These gowns pair traditional silhouettes with luxurious, trendy hues like navy, champagne pink, pearl, and burgundy. Keep reading to discover more about each of the five kimono cheongsams from Ethereal by Watabe Wedding’s highly anticipated 2020 collection.
Kazumi
Champagne pink dresses are already one of our favourite bridal fashion trends of 2020, and this kimono cheongsam is the perfect iteration of the trend. Ethereal’s Kazumi style symbolizes the harmony between two souls. In this case, it flawlessly combines subtle peony motif trimming with a sleek, champagne pink silhouette.
Mayumi
Modern and traditional design converge with Mayumi, the second kimono cheongsam in Ethereal’s 2020 collection. For example, this style juxtaposes a traditional sheath silhouette, high-neck collar, and burgundy hue with contemporary details. For instance, an illusion sweetheart neckline and gilded kimono bustier. Fashion-forward brides, this might just be your dream style!
Rumi
Evoking old Hollywood glamour, Rumi dazzles with its vintage halter neckline and colour palette of rich navy and glittering gold. No doubt, you will be sure to turn heads in this elegant, regal kimono cheongsam.
Tomomi
Ethereal’s Tomoni gown embodies both Eastern and Western-style. This look pairs a trendy mermaid silhouette and cap sleeves with pearl buttons, a gilded bustier, and a crimson red hue.
Ayami
The epitome of femininity, Ethereal’s Ayami kimono cheongsam is the fifth and final style in their 2020 collection. The monochromatic ensemble will have you in champagne pink from head to toe. As for us, some of our favourite details of this gown include the Western-inspired mermaid skirt, lace cap sleeves, illusion neckline, and pearl buttons.
The 5 new gowns from the latest release are inspired by the peony flower — an important flora in both the Japanese and Chinese cultures symbolizing harmony, fortune and happiness.”
