Photography by Jun Tan
From the get-go, Melissa and Thomas knew that Jun Tan of Jun Tan Weddings was the wedding photographer for them. Jun shoots worldwide but is based in England, and is known for capturing fun, relaxed, and adventurous couples. Thus, he was the perfect match for Melissa and Thomas who were after a stress-free wedding day. Jun was everywhere on the big day, making sure to snapshots in his effortless and natural style. The newlyweds had a photo session in between the ceremony and reception at a Japanese-inspired cloistered courtyard. Later in the evening, they snuck out with Jun for more photos in the garden, beneath the fireworks that lit up the night sky.
After food, speeches, merriment and laughter, we went out for a stroll in the gardens to really take in the moment. The day came to a close with an epic firework display to celebrate the union of two wonderfully talented and loving people.”
Fairy Wonderland in Cotswolds
Melissa and Thomas both work as architects and so they wanted to choose a venue with interesting shapes and features. For them, the Matara Centre in Gloucestershire was a no brainer. The venue has beautiful gardens and even a Japanese Torii gate. The gate was not only a stunning architectural feature but was a nod to their engagement, which took place while on a trip to Japan. When it came to decor, the wedding had an ethereal, fairy wonderland vibe. For the reception, twinkling fairy lights trailed down the walls, and tables were filled with loose bouquets of pastel florals and greenery. The most breathtaking arrangement of all was the cloud of baby’s breath and greenery hanging down from the ceiling. All floral design was executed by Jenny Fleur.
The Bridal Look
Melissa was the picture of elegance on her wedding day. She wore a white, A-line gown by Halfpenny London for the occasion. The dress featured cap sleeves, a satin belt, an exposed back, and plenty of delicate lace detailing. Her hair was in a loose updo and she walked down the aisle holding an organic bouquet of white and purple flowers tied with a blue ribbon. Meanwhile, Melissa’s bridesmaids wore navy, floor-length gowns with lace to compliment the lace on the bride’s dress. The bridesmaids dresses also matched the groom and groomsmen, who were wearing classic navy suits.
We’re a sucker for beautiful wedding cakes and Melissa and Thomas’ was just that! The three-tier cake was created by Sandra Monger, an award-winning bespoke cake designer based in Bath. The gorgeous cake was made up of two nearly-naked, round tiers on top and one geometric tier on the bottom that had a gold marbled effect. There was also an ornate sugar-flour that trailed down the front. And we bet it tasted even more delicious than it looked!
