Phoebe and Kane’s wedding took inspiration from the art deco era and New York City. The result was elegant meets industrial affair with plenty of personalized touches including a Calèche gown. Keep reading to discover all there is to know about this trendy couple’s Melbourne wedding.
About the Couple
Australian couple Phoebe and Kane first laid eyes on each other while out at a bar on Chapel Street. Kane held the door open for Phoebe and thought she looked like a princess. It was love at first sight.
Four years later, the night before Phoebe’s 30th birthday was when Kane’s epic proposal began. First, he surprised her by leaving a note at home saying to pack an overnight bag and head to The Cullen Hotel in Melbourne. Once Phoebe arrived at the hotel, she found another note in the room saying to meet Kane on the rooftop of the hotel. She raced upstairs to find Kane standing on the roof with a bottle of champagne. They had a glass of champagne and looked out over Chapel Street (where they first met), and he handed her a present. The present ended up being graffiti art on a canvas that reads “Phoebe Wallace will you marry me?” After opening the gift, Phoebe turned around, and there was Kane down on one knee with the most beautiful ring she had ever seen.
We didn’t want florals, we wanted something geometric and classic, so we landed on the art deco vibe.”
Art Deco Vibes
Phoebe and Kane didn’t initially have a theme in mind for their wedding. But as the planning progressed, they eventually settled on an art deco-inspired atmosphere in a New York-style venue. The venue was the Panama Dining Room and it had a loft-style layout that the couple loved. Both their ceremony and reception were held here. The ceremony backdrop was an industrial window with arrangements of greenery and flowers affixed to it. For the reception, they chose to decorate tables with pale pink florals, gold accents, and classic white table linens.
It was the most honest and fun representation of our love and one hell of a good party!”
Personalized details were in abundance at Phoebe and Kane’s celebration. First, the groom’s 6-year-old son Hunter handed over the rings during the ceremony. Second, as a nod to their love of cheese, they opted for a tiered cheese wheel instead of a wedding cake. Their selection included cheddar cheese, Normandy Camembert, and chevre. Further, Phoebe’s brother served as the MC for the day. According to the bride, he completely set the tone for the wedding and could not have done a better job.
Phoebe’s On-Trend Gown
The biggest splurge of the wedding was definitely Phoebe’s wedding dress. But it was worth it because the bride looked drop-dead gorgeous in her Calèche halter gown from Raffaele Ciuca Bridal. The gown featured a trendy halter neck, floral appliqué, and plenty of intricate beading. To complement her wedding dress, Phoebe wore a white floral headband, pearl drop earrings, and a pearl bracelet. She also carried a bouquet made up of cream, mauve, and blush pink roses and orchids.
Advice for Brides
Phoebe’s main piece of advice for brides-to-be is not to sweat the small stuff. She urges all brides to enjoy every aspect of being engaged, from the planning to the big day.
