Josephine, co-founder of The Asia Collective, and Tobias, a tech entrepreneur, had a celebration that was the definition of destination wedding goals! The couple tied the knot in Puglia, Italy in a totally trendy affair. Keep reading to discover all the details about their special day.
International Couple
Josephine and Tobias’ love story has spanned five countries, three continents, and eleven years. They first became friends in Marbella, Spain while they were both working at a launch event. Tobias was living in Singapore at the time, and Josephine in New York City, so they didn’t see each other again until four years later. It was when they met up at Oktoberfest in Munich that Tobias was finally able to tell Josephine he had been in love with her since he first met her in Spain. From that point on, their relationship was a bit of a whirlwind, with Josephine moving to Singapore to be with him two months later.
Adding yet another country to their love story, Tobias proposed to Josephine while they were on a romantic getaway in Santorini, Greece. He arranged a hotel room covered in candles for the proposal. They entered the room after coming back from dinner, and it was here that Tobias got down on one knee. “I was so excited I didn’t sleep the whole night. It was truly one of the most magical and special moments of my life,” shares Josephine.
Apulian Atmosphere
The jet-setting couple opted for a destination wedding (of course)! Their celebration took place in the stunning region of Italy known as Puglia. According to Josephine, there was no specific theme, they just wanted a “laid-back, fun-filled affair with lots of dancing!” After visiting nearly 15 venues in Puglia, they finally settled on Masseria San Giovanni, a modern farmhouse with whitewashed walls, olive trees, and a citrus garden. What the couple loved about their venue was the multitude of event spaces within it. Josephine and Tobias wished to have different locations for each of their festivities. They ended up having an Apulian welcome evening in the olive tree garden, a ceremony in front of the little chapel, cocktail hour on the rooftop terrace, a reception inside the Masseria, and an after-party in the garden.
“We envisioned our wedding day to be romantic with modern sophistication.”
The Decor Details
The colour scheme of the day was a dreamy palette of smoked blush and cream. The ceremony floral was light and ethereal, consisting of soft pink roses, dahlias, and lunaria. The dinner decor was a bit more dramatic. The reception featured a mix of blush florals, black taper candles, dried foliage, and fresh figs. This gave it a “structural and ethereal” look.
Josephine’s Dream Dress
The bride had a hard time finding the perfect gown. In fact, Josephine only found her dream dress two months before the big day. She was in Germany on a layover while travelling back from visiting the venue in Italy. Josephine ended up stumbling across what would become her gown in Munich, at Kaviar Gauche. The gown featured an A-line silhouette, airy balloon sleeves, a tulle skirt, and a mixture of silk and lace details. Josephine finished off the bridal look with a chapel-length veil, Givenchy heels, and baby’s breath pearl earrings.
“Standing in front of all our friends and family, feeling their love and our deep love for each other, was incredibly magical. The readings during the ceremony and also the speeches in the evening were such unforgettable and emotional moments which I will cherish forever.”
Advice from the Bride
Josephine has three main pieces of advice for couples getting married. First, start planning as early as possible. Josephine and Tobias started planning one year prior and realized that many photographers and venues were already booked. Second, make sure to choose a venue that has a second event space you like in case of bad weather. Finally, spend a few minutes with your partner away from your guests in order to soak everything up and enjoy it.
