Sharon and Rory said “I do” on the Israeli coast in a beautiful outdoor boho wedding. Filled with elegant decor, vintage florals, and the glimmering sea, their big day was picture-perfect. Keep reading to discover more about Sharon and Rory’s breathtaking wedding.
About the Couple
Sharon and Rory first laid eyes on each other in Tel Aviv, Israel. Sharon was in the army and had returned home for the weekend and Rory was on holiday. They met at a bar on Rory’s very first night in the city and decided to exchange phone numbers. Their first date happened a few days later. However, shortly after that Rory flew back home to England. They spoke every day for the six months that followed until Sharon finished her military service in Israel and moved to London. After six months living together in the UK, Sharon moved back to Tel Aviv with Rory, where they have now lived happily for four years.
We had half of our guests from England and we wanted an outside venue. Al Hayam is located on the sea where I grew up. It was the perfect venue for us.”
When it came time to propose, Rory planned a romantic Christmastime engagement in England. The couple were there visiting Rory’s family in the countryside. On Christmas Eve day, Sharon and Rory went for a walk. They eventually reached a picturesque lake, and it was there that Rory asked Sharon to marry him.
Vintage Boho Wedding
Sharon knew from the beginning that she wanted an ethereal, bohemian-inspired wedding with vintage touches. She settled on a colour palette of gold and white complemented by light-hued flowers and greenery. Crystal candleholders and hedges of greens served as centrepieces. There was also a chic, all-white lounge area set up around the dance floor that we loved! Ultimately, the floral and decor came together beautifully and perfectly complemented the seaside setting.
The couple spent a year and a half planning their wedding, which allowed everything to come together just as they wanted. Given Israel’s warm weather, they opted for an outdoor venue. They decided their big day would take place at Al Hayam, a gorgeous venue on the Israeli coast. Not only did it have a beautiful outdoor event space, but it is located on the sea where Sharon grew up. Half of the guests flew from England for the wedding, which made the day that much more special.
In line with the bohemian theme of the day, Sharon dreamed of finding the perfect boho wedding dress. She wanted to feel comfortable all night long, including during the dancing portion of the evening. Sharon did a bit of research and quickly fell in love with the gowns from Flora Bridal. Flora Bridal is an Israeli salon founded by designer Rinat Asher and also happens to be a WedElf Vendor We Love! The bride loved how all of Flora Bridal’s dresses are simple yet beautiful, with vintage details. On the big day, Sharon stunned in a white A-line gown with a beaded bodice, sweetheart neckline, and spaghetti straps. Her bridal look was complete with the addition of simple drop earrings, a jewelled headpiece, and Manolo Blahnik heels.
Advice to Newly Engaged Couples
Sharon advises all newly engaged couples to just enjoy the day. Your friends and family have come to celebrate you, so spend time with them and have fun. She also tells all couples not to be too stressed if something doesn’t go to plan as in the end, no one will notice except you.
