Tatiana and Taylor McCalla’s fall wedding was the epitome of alpine elegance. The Colorado duo wished for their day to be a reflection of who they are as a couple. Ultimately, they achieved just that on their special day. Continue reading to discover more about their rustic, greenery-filled celebration.
Tatiana and Taylor first met in their hometown of Basalt, Colorado (just outside of beautiful Aspen). But it wasn’t until they were on a road trip in Arizona that Taylor proposed. While the couple were on a hike in the Vermilion Cliffs area, Tatiana spotted the perfect spot to take a photo with their dog Bodie. She asked Taylor to set up a tripod so they could snap a pic for their annual Christmas card. She could see he had a big smile on his face but wasn’t sure why. After setting up the tripod and getting into position, Taylor dropped down onto one knee and asked Tatiana to marry him.
It was the most spectacular place to get engaged!”
Given that Tatiana and Taylor met and live in Colorado, they wanted their wedding to reflect this. The theme of the day was “simple and classic” with a natural, alpine feel. The rustic venue, Albert’s Lodge at Spruce Mountain Ranch located in Larkspur, Colorado, set the tone for the day. For the ceremony, wild greenery, string lights, and floating candles highlighted the cosy, wooden accents of the lodge. The ceremony was “short and sweet” and even included their beloved pup, Bodie. They incorporated catholic readings, personalized vows in their ceremony. For the reception, they flipped the ceremony space, with the head table situated right in front of an elegant stone fireplace. Trailing floral runners adorned guest tables, made up of white blooms, magnolia leaves, and eucalyptus.
Our wedding was fun and it was so wonderful to have everyone we cared about celebrating with us.”
Tatiana grew up in the state of Georgia and she wished to incorporate this part of her history into their big day. To honour her Southern roots, the couple opted for a barbecue menu at the reception. The couple used magnolia leaves, native to the southern United States, in their floral arrangements.
The Perfect Gown
Tatiana knew as soon as she slipped on the “Mercer” gown by Sareh Nouri that it was the one. The bride found the best gown which was simple and minimalist, just the way she wanted. The clean-cut wedding dress featured a plunging neckline, open back, and trumpet skirt. Tatiana looked absolutely radiant in it.
Advice to Brides
According to Tatiana, she advises all brides-to-be to take a moment away from guests on the big day. This is the best way to focus on the act of getting married versus the show of it, which is easy to get caught up in.
