A French queen and a musician wed in the stunning all-time favourite Irish venue, Cliff at Lyons. A wedding that had vintage and royal flair, with decorations and styling that sends you right back in time.
Darienne & Reece
Reece is a talented individual. Not only was he a musician, but he also worked as a photographer and that’s how he met Darienne. Darienne was selected as queen at a local French Festival in Portarlington Co. Laois and Reece was the photographer that was supposed to follow her around all weekend, capturing her beauty. Reece proposed during their trip to Las Vegas and New York. On their last day in New York, Reece decided that it was the right time to get down on one knee. The love birds were engaged for 2 years before they had their beautiful wedding at one of Irish’s top location, The Cliff at Lyons.
My dress was very simple, an ivory mikado silk ballgown with glass and pearl detailing and I fell in love with it immediately after trying it on.”
The Wedding Gown
Darienne has always dreamed of a gown that is form-fitting and full of lace for her big day, maybe something in a mermaid silhouette, but definitely not a ball gown. To her surprise, after trying on numerous dresses, she realized that what she dreamt of was not suitable for her at all. In the end, she ended up with an elegant ivory Mikado silk ballgown that her mother had suggested her to try on. Paired together with a traditional veil with laces, it fits perfectly and she was indeed a French queen in that gown. This gown complimented the couple’s simple and elegant wedding style flawlessly.
It’s so important to be able to sit down with your partner and be able to express how each of you are feeling without fearing that you won’t be heard.”
St John’s Church – Ceremony
Darienne and Reece came from different religious backgrounds, so they opted for an interfaith religious ceremony with a priest and a reverend. Held at St John’s Church in Killernard Co.Laois, it was a personal ceremony where family and close friends did some readings.
I loved the moment when I walked into the church to walk up the aisle and I could see Reece for the first time that day, I must have been smiling from ear to ear!”
Edel Cooney from Vintage Affair completed the breathtaking decorations for the venue. She really worked her magic and everything was what I have imagined.”
Cliff at Lyons – Reception
Cliff at Lyons was the perfect location for the couples’ vintage style reception and they fell in love with it at first look. The venue boasted exquisite little cottages for guests to stay in, greenery, a tranquil lake and a courtyard with a book log burning pit. It was a location that could transport you back in time instantly.
Your wedding day is about you and your future husband. Do what makes the two of you happy and don’t sweat the small stuff.”
Their wedding cake was black with white sugar craft lilies flowing down the side. It resembled Darienne’s hand bouquet which used white lilies, roses, ivy and fern in a teardrop shape. The cake also had an intricate gold tier to stand the cake on. Their cake supplier actually went the extra mile and included their dog’s face, a golden snitch from Harry Potter in the detailing of the gold tier.
With 110 guests, Darienne and Reece’s wedding was nothing short of fabulous. Being surrounded by people who love and care for both of you is definitely the best feeling in the world. Just enjoy every bit of your big day as much as possible because you deserve it!
