Stacey and Charles Simpson tied the knot in the rustic-meets-vintage wedding of their dreams at Tocal Homestead in New South Wales, Australia. From the groom’s epic proposal on top of the Eiffel Tower to the bride’s picture-perfect Made with Love Gown, continue reading to discover all the details about Stacey and Charles’ big day.
About the Couple
High school sweethearts Stacey and Charles first met over ten years ago. Stacey admits she had had a crush on Charles for a little while, however, it wasn’t until they were paired up on a ride at a local show that they started talking. Since that day, they haven’t left each other’s side.
Knowing he wanted to spend the rest of his life with Stacey, Charles meticulously planned the dreamiest proposal imaginable. Flashback to August 2016 when the couple was on a Contiki tour in Europe, they had arrived in Paris and were on the Eiffel Tower. Stacey noticed that Charles looked a little pale but she chalked it up to the height. Next thing she knew, Charles moved Stacey away from the crowds and got down on one knee right there on top of the Eiffel Tower. According to Stacey, their tour guide had been in on Charles’ plans and was waiting for them down at the bottom with a glass of bubbly.
The Vintage Chic Theme
Deciding on a theme for their wedding was no easy task, shares Stacey. However, they eventually settled on the idea of having luxurious velvet tablecloths and furniture, which led them to a “rustic/chic/vintage/formal” theme. For the ceremony, this translated to a drop-dead gorgeous wooden arbour covered in wild and bright florals and wooden benches for guests. Meanwhile, the reception was a beautiful blend of texture. It combined wooden furniture with velvet linens, sleek black stationery, organic florals, and of course, fairy lights suspended from the ceiling. We’d say that Stacey and Charles definitely achieved their vintage chic theme!
Australian Made Gown
Stacey’s wedding dress was by Australian designer, Made with Love Bridal. She tried on a number of different dresses in both Sydney and Newcastle before she saw the “Ella” style on Made with Love’s Facebook page. As soon as she spotted it, she knew it was the one. Stacey ended up flying to their Gold Coast headquarters to try it on, where she fell in love even more! The delicate, feminine gown featured a tulle underlay with a lace-covered bodice, a sweetheart neckline, spaghetti straps, an open V-back, and an elegant, lace train. Stacey paired her dream gown with the cathedral length “Chani” veil, also by Made with Love Bridal.
Advice to Couples
Planning and hosting a wedding can be stressful. Luckily, Stacey is here to offer all sorts of helpful tips. First, she urges all couples to enjoy and really take their time celebrating the engagement period, versus jumping straight into wedding planning. Second, Stacey advises brides and grooms-to-be to choose a wedding style that truly reflects them instead of simply going with what’s trending at that given moment. Third, trust your vendors! They are experts and if you let them, they will execute your wedding seamlessly. And finally, when it comes to the big day, reserve a moment to stop, take five deep breaths, and take it all in. Stacey recommends doing this at least once each hour.
