Singapore’s National Day is just around the corner! In celebration of the country’s 53rd birthday next week (9 August), WedElf is bringing you the 5 best pre-wedding photoshoot spots that are uniquely Singapore. The lush oasis is filled with photogenic spots that boast architectural wonders and natural splendours. Whether you’re locals born and bred in this lion city, or travellers making a trip to Singapore, this is for you, lovebirds! Aloysius of BlissPixel Photography, a Vendor We Love in Singapore, has shortlisted his best 5 picks.
1 – CHIJMES
A beautiful national monument built since 1812 that is now gazetted as a National Monument of Singapore makes for a beautiful backdrop that is timeless and classic.
Did you know, the cathedral in CHIJMES, CHIJMES Hall, is one of Singapore’s unique wedding venues? CHIJMES Hall, a Vendor We Love, brings you the wedding of your dreams with sparkling crystal chandeliers, gothic styled arches, high ceiling and filtered lights falling gently through the finest stained glass windows.
2 – Botanical Gardens
Lush greenery in the gardens makes this a very popular photoshoot location. It’s for the nature lovers! It’s also Singapore’s 1st UNESCO World Heritage site, so couples can tell their friends and family that their wedding photoshoot was taken in a location with outstanding universal value.
3 – Tiong Bahru Estate
This is a perennial favourite where the contemporary and the traditional merges. Tiong Bahru Estate will be perfect for couples who’ll like a tinge of vintage, as this estate exudes old-school charm within a sea of hipster cafes popping up in the recent years. Not to forget, there are many iconic wall murals that will attract street-art lovers.
4 – National Museum

The National Museum has many picturesque spots with great and soft natural light. Also, in case of bad weather, the indoors of the National Museum serve as a contingency plan.
5 – Gardens By The Bay East
Now, this spot is a definite choice. Iconic to the Singaporean skyline is the Marina Bay Sands, with the 3 distinctive complex curved towers borne from incredible architecture. Aloysius suggests taking the shots from Gardens By The Bay East, offering couples a tranquil respite in beautiful nature against the picturesque backdrop of Marina Bay Sands.
We also asked Aloysius, who has more than 10 years of wedding photography experience, to advise couples doing their pre-wedding photoshoots!
Here’s what he has to say:
“If possible, it would be good to meet up with the couple and have a chat about their photo shoot. This gives us the opportunity to get to know each other better and discuss possible shooting locations.”
The discussion may entail shortlisting locations that are meaningful to you. It could be at a cafe where both of you used to hang out often or a place where you first met. Do decide on the type of backdrop you’ll prefer, whether against urban architecture or somewhere full of greens & nature. A mood board may come in handy, too!
Another piece of advice for the ladies:
“Don’t shy away from wearing slippers on the day of the shoot. You ought to give your feet a break from those heels. It’s more important that you have fun during the day of your shoot!”
Bringing to you these 5 best photoshoot spots in Singapore is Aloysius, whose photoshoot style is “natural, candid and spontaneous”. This wedding photographer in Singapore focuses on creating timeless and beautiful memories, by making his captures look relevant 10 to 20 years down the road.
