In our first WedElf styled shoot, we rounded up our Vendors We Love from Singapore to create an Oriental mood inspired by the 1920s. This styled shoot features the lovely couple Samantha & Ben, who had their wedding in the lovely Alcove at Caldwell House and CHIJMES Hall earlier this year!
Alcove at Caldwell House
Alcove at Caldwell House is the location that will be perfect for intimate celebrations, of up to 100 guests to be exact. This neoclassical wedding venue’s most striking feature is its French inscription – Marche en ma presence et sois parfait, translated as “Walk with me and be perfect” – inside the dome. Present since its first quarters as the Convent of Holy Infant Jesus (CHIJ), this inscription gives an even greater meaning of bringing couples together through marriage today.
Artfully arranged by Inside The Knot, the oriental accents were brought to life with Ming-inspired cloths, antique telephone with rotary dials and a vintage Victorian hand fan. White-draped backdrops and floral hoops maintained the fresh and modern quality that Alcove at Caldwell House conventionally exuberates.
Everybody present during this Styled shoot were testament to the sweet love between recently-wedded Samantha and Ben! Samantha is pictured below in ETHEREAL’s Kimono Cheongsam gowns, namely Izumi, Sonomi and Immi respectively, while Ben is decked out in Mr Gentleman’s suits.
Yes, CHIJMES Hall, all who have watched the “$40 million” wedding in the recent hit Hollywood movie – Crazy Rich Asians (based off Kevin Kwan’s novel) will know that this wedding venue is one to wow. The stained glass windows, chapel’s columns and intricate motifs add to the allure of this Gothic styled 19th Century heritage wedding venue in the heart of Singapore.
Inside The Knot got creative with the spaces and created three different looks in line with the theme. A Ming-cloth stage backdrop with Ming vases to match. Rustic drapes and vintage frames make for an archaic setting you’d see in TV films set in the 1920s. A VIP table with tall floral centrepieces, amidst goblets and candle holders. You might be spoilt for choices, word of caution.
Anyone in love with their love yet?
Much appreciation to Samantha & Ben, and special thanks go to Multifolds Productions (photography), Substance Films (videography), MakeUp Maestro Wedding (hair & make-up), Inside The Knot (styling), Alcove at Caldwell House and CHIJMES Hall operated by Watabe Wedding Singapore (venues), ETHEREAL The Label and Mr Gentleman for creating the magic that is this Oriental Styled Shoot inspired by the 1920s.
